Lake Sentani

Lake Sentani under Cycloops slopes Mountain Nature Reserve which has an area of about 245,000 hectares. This lake lies between Jayapura and Jayapura regency, Papua. Lake Sentani, which has an area of about 9360 hectares and located at an altitude of + 75 meters above sea level, is one of the largest lake in Papua and Indonesia. Lake Sentani potential for development of freshwater aquaculture and become an attractive tourist place because the scenery is very beautiful.


The lake is used as a freshwater fish culture is used to improve family nutrition and one source of local revenue. With the potential large-scale water discharge, the Lake Sentani to clear land for cultivation of various species of freshwater fish, which will be able to meet market demand in Papua and even out of Papua. "Lake Sentani can cultivable many species of freshwater fish such as Oreochromis mossambicus, Mas, Catfish, Tilapia, and various other types of fish high in protein. This is what makes the Lake Sentani is also as an interesting tourist attraction.
